Clarifying Our Origins, Intentions, and Relationship to Existing Committees
Background and Formation
The Promenade Village People Facebook Group was established by a couple of friends who felt there was a need to fill a gap in the small activities area for entertainment within the community. As these Posts are frequent, there was a need for a different Facebook Page to accommodate response co-ordination for activities without limiting open discussion and
engagement. Our Vision and Activities
The primary aim of the Village People Facebook Group is to organise and promote small- scale events, both within and beyond the Promenade community. We focus on creating our own in-house activities, fully independent from the social committee but not in competition to the social committee. These events are designed to foster genuine
connection, participation, and enjoyment for all residents.
It is important to note that some members of the social committee are currently part of the Village People group. It is important that we maintain our autonomy and continue to
operate with a distinct approach and ethos. Our Approach to Group Identity
Our promotional material and items are obtained from a variety of sources that allow us to
provide those items at good quality and price.
We wish to clarify that our intention is not profit-making; instead, we simply wanted to offer members a cost-effective option that represents our group identity.
Respectful Coexistence and Distinct Goals
We understand that some members of the community may be unsettled by our independent initiatives and branding. As explained to our Community Manager in the office, both groups can comfortably coexist. Our goals and areas of focus are different: the social committee prefers to manage large-scale events, while we specialise in smaller, more
personalised gatherings. Community Support
We are grateful for the support of homeowners, which further strengthens our resolve to create a positive, welcoming environment through the Village People Facebook Group. Our commitment remains to build a community where everyone feels included, heard, and
